Notes on the works provided for in the Draft Estimates.
BUILDINGS.
Sub-head 1. Wong Nei Cheong Village Development Removing existing school and lalrine and re-erecting on new site, $2,000.00. The vote only provides for retention money as it is hoped to complete the work in 1928.
2. Victoria Guol Reception Block, $5,000.00.-This vote only provides for
retention money as it is hoped to complete the work in 1928.
3. Additional Storey to Government Offices, $35,000.00. The amount ask- ed for is to cover retention money and any work that may remain un- completed by the end of the year.
Sub-heads 4 & 5. Peak Wireless Station, Bioek "B" & "C" $51,000.--This station is being erected on the site of the "Eyrie" which is now occupied as Quar- ters for W/T operators. Block A of the Scheme should be finished in 1928 and the blocks in question will complete the main W/T Station buildings. Sub-head 6. Latrine on Praya, $1,000.-This convenience will be erected on the Praya East Reclamation on the site of the permanent latrine which will be required later.

7. Alterations and Improvements to Government House $48,500.-The chief items included in this vote are-Extension to Ball Room, a new office for H.E. the Governor, extension to Gentlemen's Cloak-room, Office for Cus- todian, Conservatory, etc., etc.
8. New No. 2 Police Station-Site formation and building $150,000.—This station is to replace the present No. 2 Police Station and will be built on the Praya East Reclamation. The present Station accommodation is in- sufficient and larger premises are required.
9. New Fire Station-Alteration to Tower $1,500.-The tower was designed for hose drying only but it is now considered desirable to use it for drill purposes in addition. The vote is for the necessary strengthening.
10. Underground Latrine at junction of Ladder Street and Hollywood Road (60 seats) $13,000.-This vote required to complete the convenience commenced in 1928.
11. Lutrine and Urinal at Jardine's Corner Peak (4 scuts) $5,000.-This is
urgently needed as there is no public convenience in the vicinity.
12. Latrine and Urinal at Spring Garden Lane and Cross Street (16 seats) $6,000. This is in a congested area and the accommodation is urgently required.
13. Trough Closet and Urinal at Connaught Road West:-
(a) Wilmer Street (2 seats).—(b) Water Street (2 seats) $2,000.---These small conveniences are very necessary in the vicinity of these streets.
14. Increase of Pig Lairage at Sai Wan Ho $3,000. The present accommo-
dation is not sufficient to meet requirements.
15. New Market at Sai Ying Pun $200,000.-This market is to replace the present one which is old, dilapidated, and in every way unsatisfactory for the present day requirements of the populous district.
